This week saw a bit of painting and decorating done in our lounge. We decided to freshen up the walls and change the colour scheme from black, white and red to something different. In the end we went for a feature wall with a purple damask wallpaper and painting the remaining walls in muted greyish purple. The effects are great and I am very pleased with how it all turned out.
This weekend will be spent tidying up, putting books back on the shelves and having a little trip to Ikea (although it will most definitely not be 'a little trip'....). I am thinking about adding some white/cream cushions to balance the darkness of the walls, getting new curtains, some candles and other bits and bobs. Once the room is decorated, I will hopefully take the photos and feature them here.
Whilst looking at 'purple inspirations' online, I found these images that caught my attention. I like the contrast between the dark walls and the lighter accessories.

I never would have thought purple but these rooms are just so pretty!

This takes me back to my childhood. My room was lavender growing up. Dark purples like eggplant are definitely a grown up version of that palette.
