On our recent trip to IKEA to get some pieces for our
newly decorated lounge, me and my husband were discussing what our preferences were regarding our future kitchen. The different kitchen displays made the conversation easier (reminding me of
this funny scene in one of my favourite films of all times
(500) Days of Summer), so we could point out at things and arrangements that we liked. It was then when I learned that Mr C is into a modern look, with neutral monochrome colours, glass and stainless steel. While I appreciate the clean and aesthetic look of these materials, I am definitely more of a "traditional and rustic kitchen" kind of girl at heart. I love wood, open shelving, vintage pieces and the country 'look and feel'.
As far as my marriage has taught me so far, it's all about compromises and I believe I have found a perfect solution for our so different tastes in decorating - a mix of modern and traditional, with contemporary pieces and rustic furniture and accessories. These images will definitely serve as the inspiration for when we decorate our future kitchen.
these kitchens are GORGEOUS...i love a clean palette! i am with you on the traditional rustic kitchen, but agree it's all about compromising :)

DeleteI love those kitchens!! So clean! That's exactly what I wanted in a dream kitchen but we just picked our finishes for our house that's being built still and I went with dark wood cabinets. Totally opposite of white.. but oh well.. it looked better with all the granite and tiles we chose. haha..

I'm a bit gutted that we have dark worktops in our existing kitchen - I wish I had white wooden tops, it would make the kitchen so much brighter! Oh well, I need to wait until we move somewhere else!

Sadly I won't be doing any re-decorating to our existing kitchen, but hopefully we will be moving to a new house by the end of the year and then I will have my dream kitchen!

You’ll definitely have a hard time deciding because all the photos look great! The third and second to the last photo fit your needs well. Both have a wooden center table that is surrounded by modern accessories and appliances. It’s really hard to decide when couples have different interests, but I think that’s what makes it more interesting for some people. Good thing you figured out how you can meet halfway.
